Google Maps display showing wreckage locations

This wreck site is perhaps the bleakest I have visited. It is located at an altitude of about 450m near Hunt Law on the moorlands of the Lammermuir Hills in East Lothian, about 30km south-east of Edinburgh. It requires a long walk to get to the site, although there are many good and level 4x4 tracks across the moors that make any walking easy. Finding the site is fairly easy, as the site is a war grave with a memorial that is marked on OS maps. The site itself feels very remote and barren, with views to the Cheviot and Eildon Hills. Next to the memorial is a small area of wreckage that marks where the aircraft crashed, and where the pilot lies buried.

This site lies about 5.5km south of the wreck site of a de Havilland Vampire, see my page about this site here.

There is some information about this crash and photos of the site on the ACSS website here.

These pictures were taken in October 2007.
