October snow on Aonach Mòr

Lochaber contains two main areas of long-lasting snow, the steep northern face of Ben Nevis (Observatory, Point Five and Zero gullies) and the eastern corries (Coire an Lochain and An Cùl Choire) of Aonach Mòr (click on the area name to get my archive of photos of that area):

 

 

 

  1. An Cùl Choire, east of the bealach between Aonach Mòr and Aonach Beag
  2. Aonach Mòr, Coire an Lochain, foot of cliffs to north-east of summit:
    • patch 1 (protalus rampart): OS 6-fig. grid ref.: NN 194 737, approx. altitude 1090m
    • patch 2 (piranha): OS 6-fig. grid ref.: NN 193 737, approx. altitude 1120m
  3. Ben Nevis north face, Observatory Gully
