Message from Margaret

I have been looking at your site since I got my laptop in April. I have now got a Scanner and managed to scan the school photos I have in my possession. A very old one I got from a lady we met on the Isle of Skye. Quite by chance she heard us talking and asked us where we came from. It turned out her Aunt was a teacher at Bushiehill School, called Morag Maclean. She had taught my Husband John and I. We exchanged addresses and she sent us a Photo of all the teachers in 1929-30. We got it copied, I think it will be enjoyed by some who look at your website.By the time we went to school in 1940, Mr Smith the Jannie had white hair.

I had help with the old photo from Mrs. Margaret Findlay, Mother of Allan, Duncan & Elsie.

My Mother had the home bakery in the Precinct, My brother Jimmy worked with her, I was born and brought up in Johnson Drive, and also went to Gateside School.

I also have some photos I got from Jean (McDonald) Blackstock. 2 are from a school play, and I'm sure my cousin David Simpson is in one of them.

John came from Clydeford Road and was a member and last Captain of the 199th Coy Boys Brigade which was attached to Moriston Church, in Church Street. He has a brother Sandy.

Ok Ed That is all I have of Gateside School (except the 3rd one I sent) That was at Bushiehill. We all had quite a laugh at the character at the back row next to the Janitor.??

Maybe we will get some feedback on the names I don't know or remember.

Another 1946 photo donated Oct 2012, with Sheena McDonald in it. I got this from Sheena's husband, Jack.
