I recognise all the boys and a few of the girls in the picture but sadly the names elude me.

William Macintyre is 6th guy from the left standing at the back (as you look at the photograph), my best mate at the time. I am the last one, 11th, (The scruffy kid, but handsome with it?).

Back row 4th from left I am sure is Charles Keenan from Kirkhill he has an older brother and one or possibly two sisters.

Back row 5th from left is Joseph Gilbert .

Back row 9 and 10 from left. These two guys were the ‘posh’ lads from the Burnside Road area. I am 11th after those two. I remember were all given a card to mark our contributions for the ‘Black Babies’ If we filled it up we were given some accolade or other to mark the event. The two Burnside lads filled it in every month, it took me two years to get the two shillings and sixpence to fill my card.

Next row down the two lads on the left were known as the ‘camp kids’ they were to the best of my knowledge Polish Displaced Persons, (PDP) I remember them getting a big hand at the behest of the teacher. Apparently they had missed the bus and had run all the way down to the school from the camp at Cathkin area in the pouring rain, as you can see they were as scruffy as I was, but at least I had shoes.

Second row 3rd from end is one of the Duffin sisters.

Front row (seated) 3rd from right is John Mc Keegan He was also a good friend of mine; he lived in Church Street and had 2 younger brothers.
