(We were one of the first families to be allocated an Orlit in Craigallian Ave, and the this was the first part of the new Cairns estate to be built. As an 8-year-old, I remember the Woodland Cres tenements under construction, and we ragamuffins played in them at night. There was a watchman called 'auld Ned' but he never bothered us and just sat by his brazier all night long smoking his pipe.
