The school was on Montgomery Place next to Hughie Wilsons shop which was a couple of doors down from Daisy Leighton's
post office. The school was still in operation right up until we all left Newton in 1964. Newton Farm Road ran between Wilsons shop and the school, it was affectionally called the Bourzy Road that went upto the farm and had a cut off onto the back road to Westburn. The grocers shop was across the road from the school at the start of Bridge St and was Nan Browns Shop.
